Deliberations have begun regarding some changes to our planned itinerary. There have been some closings of museums and libraries that we had planned on seeing (I guess that the US doesn’t have a monopoly on cutting funding for arts and culture after all!), and we’re needing to shuffle some events around.

Happily, this means that our Simone de Beauvoir day is likely going to be tomorrow! Very excited for this . . .

Now we’re probably going to make it an early night after watching Midnight in Paris, mainly because I’m mildly obsessed with how it illuminates something I’ve always felt when visiting different places: I always want to not just visit them, but visit at specific times of historical interest. Maybe it’s the history geek in me, or maybe I’m just a sucker for a great movie set in Paris . . . either way, we’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower all lit up from the comfort of the couch, only steps from our little rollaway beds.

This whole pied-a-terre à Paris thing is definitely growing on us.
